Foreword

Psychology is
a measuring science.

A short introduction to this curriculum

Everything psychology claims about a person rests on an instrument someone built and someone else trusted. This curriculum takes that seriously: from Statistika I in Semester 2 to Konstruksi Alat Ukur in Semester 5, a student is never more than one term away from a methods course. The theory is not diminished by this, it is made checkable.

Does that make it a statistics degree?

No. The five classical pillars, development, social, personality, cognition, and physiology, each get a full course in Semester 2, and the clinical, organisational, and educational strands run in two parts across Semesters 3 and 4. What the methods spine adds is the habit of asking, of any claim about a person, how it was measured and how well.

The arc is deliberate. Semester 1 puts applied fields, assessment technique, and the professional code in front of a student immediately. Semester 2 supplies the theoretical core. Semesters 3 and 4 build method in both directions, quantitative and qualitative. Semesters 5 and 6 move from reading instruments to building them and from theory to supervised practice. Semester 7 leaves the faculty entirely for magang and KKN. Semester 8 closes with a defended skripsi and its publication.

How to read this book. Each semester page lists every course by code, name, and credit weight, grouped by category. The progression ladder gives the full six-phase shape at a glance before the semester-by-semester detail begins.

About the Programme

Built to be
checkable.

What this curriculum is organised by

Psychology here is not a survey of schools of thought. The organising unit is the claim: what is being asserted about a person, on what evidence, gathered with what instrument, and with what right. Three principles run through every phase.

01

Assessment and ethics come first, together

Asesmen Dasar and Kode Etik Psikologi both sit in Semester 1. A student learns to observe and interview a real person in the same term they learn what that access obliges them to, rather than acquiring the skill years before the constraint.

02

A methods course in almost every semester

Statistika I, then Metodologi Kuantitatif with Statistika II and Psikometri I, then Psikometri II with Metodologi Kualitatif, then Konstruksi Alat Ukur and Analisis Data. Five consecutive semesters of measurement, quantitative and qualitative in balance.

03

Three strands, taken by everyone

Klinis, Industri dan Organisasi, and Pendidikan each run in two parts across Semesters 3 and 4. They are not competing majors: a graduate is expected to be literate in all three and to specialise later, through electives and postgraduate study.

The Promise

What Psychology graduates
can actually do.

The problem this programme is built to solve

Able to gather evidence about people properly: design a study, choose or build an instrument, administer it ethically, analyse what comes back without overclaiming, and write it up so a non-specialist can act on it. Literate in clinical, organisational, and educational settings alike.

The industry problem

Organisations run surveys, interviews, and assessments constantly, and most of it is measurement without measurement discipline: instruments nobody validated, samples nobody defended, conclusions nobody could falsify. The scarce skill is not opinion about people, it is rigour about evidence.

Honest flag. An S1 in Psychology is not a licence to practise as a psychologist. Clinical assessment and psychological therapy in Indonesia require the Magister Profesi Psikologi and the associated professional licence. The roles listed above are the ones this degree opens directly; Semester 8's Pengembangan Karier dan Profesionalisme Psikologi exists partly to make that path explicit.

Curriculum Phases

The eight semesters are organised around six phases rather than a flat sequence: Foundation, Core Theory, Method across two semesters, Practice across two semesters, Field and Community, and the Skripsi. Semesters 3 and 4 carry the heaviest classroom load, 23 and 21 credits, placed before practice begins so that a student arrives at the practicum with method already in hand.

Twelve credits, six courses, are elective. They are distributed two per term across Semesters 5, 6, and 7, which lets a student follow one of the three strands further without the programme splitting into separate tracks.

The Arc of Eight Semesters

Each phase is defined by one verb. The full ladder is on the next page.

Learning Progression

Six phases, eight steps.

From first observation to a defended thesis

S1

Orient

Psikologi Dasar arrives beside Psikologi Industri dan Organisasi, Psikologi Pendidikan, assessment technique, and the professional code. A student sees where the discipline is used before being asked to master its theory.

S2

Ground

The five classical pillars, development, social, personality, cognition, and physiology, taught in one term, with Statistika I opening the measurement spine.

S3

Measure

Quantitative methodology, inferential statistics, and psychometrics together, alongside the first half of the clinical, organisational, and educational strands.

S4

Measure

Psikometri II and qualitative methodology. The programme insists a graduate can both compute a coefficient and sit with a transcript.

S5

Build

Psikodiagnostik and Konstruksi Alat Ukur: the turn from administering an instrument to constructing and validating one.

S6

Practise

Intervention, counselling, community work, and the practicum, all supervised, and the research proposal seminar that sets up the skripsi.

S7

Immerse

Magang and KKN. Seven of fifteen credits are earned outside the faculty, in an organisation and in a community.

S8

Master

Skripsi, defended, plus a separate course in getting the result published.

Reading the notes. The load falls steadily after Semester 3. That is intentional: as classroom credits drop, supervised practice, fieldwork, and thesis work take the remaining time, which is not fully visible in an SKS column. Semester 7 looks like the lightest term at 15 credits, but seven of those are earned outside the faculty.

One arithmetic note

The semester subtotals sum to 150 SKS, not the 151 recorded on the source spreadsheet's final row. The per-semester figures, 21, 22, 23, 21, 20, 18, 15, and 10, are internally consistent and are what this handbook reports.

The Three Strands

Three strands,
taken by everyone.

And twelve elective credits to follow one further

Klinis, Industri dan Organisasi, and Pendidikan are not competing majors. Every student takes all three, each in two parts across Semesters 3 and 4. Specialisation happens afterwards, through the six elective courses and through postgraduate study.

Proposed elective pool

The curriculum reserves six elective slots, Pilihan I through VI, twelve credits in total, but does not yet name them. The following pool is proposed, grouped so that a student can concentrate within one strand or deliberately spread across them.

Reasons to believe

The claim is testable at the end of Semester 5. A student who has taken Psikometri I and II, both methodologies, two statistics courses, and Konstruksi Alat Ukur can be handed an unfamiliar psychological instrument and asked the questions that matter: what does it claim to measure, on what evidence, and where would it fail.

Closing

Built to be evidenced,
not just believed.

Psychology moves from first observation to defended skripsi in eight semesters: applied fields and professional ethics from the first term, the classical core in the second, five consecutive semesters of measurement, supervised practice, a term spent in an organisation and a community, and a thesis that has to survive being read.
