Foreword

Built to own
the business.

A short introduction to this handbook

Most business programmes prepare students to join a company. This one is built around a different specialty: preparing students to start and run a business of their own. Every course, from Semester 1 onward, is designed so that its output can be applied directly to a venture a student is building, so that by graduation, entrepreneurship is not just studied but practiced.

Over eight semesters you move from your first business model canvas to launching and reporting on an actual business at the capstone. You will not only study concepts; you will build a venture plan, a marketing strategy, a funding pitch, and eventually an operating business, a working portfolio that shows you can build, not just describe.

The curriculum concentrates on Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship as its main focus, supported by three enabling domains: Digital & FinTech, Marketing & Consumer Insight, and People & Organization Management. The throughline across all of them is ownership: every deliverable is framed as something a founder would actually need to start, run, or grow a business.

How to read this book. The first pages explain the model and shape of the programme. The second half walks through the curriculum semester by semester, each course paired with the tools you will learn, the concrete output you will build, and the career roles it prepares you for. Where a course sits outside business management (mathematics, university-required courses), its output is left honestly foundational rather than artificially reframed.

About the Programme

One focus, three supports.

Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship, supported by three domains

Business Management at Cakrawala concentrates on Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship, with digital and financial technology, marketing and consumer insight, and people and organization management supporting that focus rather than competing with it. Its specialty is the practical implementation of owning a business: understand the market, design the venture, run the operation, and account for growth, with entrepreneurship as the throughline that ties the supporting domains together.

Three principles run through every course.

01

Tools you already know

Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word carry almost every course. You learn to use ordinary, widely available tools to their fullest rather than depending on specialised software.

02

An output for every course

Each subject ends in a tangible deliverable: a business model canvas, a marketing plan, a funding pitch, an operating venture. You graduate with proof of work, not just a transcript.

03

Roles, not just topics

Every course maps to real job titles and founder tasks, so you always know which career door, or which part of running your own business, it opens.

Concentration Domains

The 144-credit total meets the standard minimum for an undergraduate business degree. Credits are distributed evenly across all eight semesters at 18 credits each, so the workload stays steady from the first semester to the capstone.

Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship is the main concentration of the curriculum, supported by three enabling domains: Digital & FinTech, Marketing & Consumer Insight, and People & Organization Management. There is a dedicated concentration semester in Semester 5 where all four are studied, each framed with entrepreneurship outputs.

The Arc of Eight Semesters

Each term is defined by a single verb, a level of mastery to reach before moving on. Skill is layered, not rushed. The full ladder is on the next page.

Reading the notes. Credits are distributed evenly at 18 per semester so the workload of building a venture stays manageable alongside coursework. Semester 8 pairs the capstone with a seminar and a portfolio defense, and the final project may be supplemented by continued operation of the venture after graduation.

One Main Focus, Three Supporting Domains

Entrepreneurship, at the center.

The domain structure behind Semester 5's concentration

Cakrawala's Business Management curriculum concentrates on Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship as its main focus. The other three domains, Digital & FinTech, Marketing & Consumer Insight, and People & Organization Management, are studied as supporting domains: each strengthens the main focus rather than competing with it, so every course's output is still framed around building, running, or growing a business.
